October 26, 2019 - Flying Young Eagles at Bay Bridge

Today our EAA Chapter 571 was giving Young Eagle rides over at Bay Bridge Airport.  It was kind of a gloomy day but the overcast was certainly high enough -- 3,000 feet?  -- to fly.  Winds were no factor.  Let's get'er done!

The Young Eagles are in the house and ready to fly.  Paul C's Commando Cub is first in line.

We had four planes giving rides:  the Commando Super Cub, my RV-7, an RV-12 and a four-seater low wing.

We each did four flights.  My first three riders were on the young side;  they seemed a little overwhelmed.  But my fourth was a teenager, taller than me.  He clearly enjoyed the flight and we had a good time.

Here I'm approaching Kent's Narrows Bridge.

Afterwards, the Mom's had a lunch for the pilot and groundcrews, and even gave the pilots gift certificates!

Leaving Bay Bridge, I did a little fun fly over the Eastern Shore before heading back to home base.

The foliage wasn't at peak yet, or may be it was.  The colors were just kind of dull and subdued this year.  In fact, it seems to me it has been years since the colors were bright and sharp.

Cruising over the Eastern Shore at 500 feet.

Checking out the "Delta".  There's a little color in there but not much.

Still pretty, though.

What the Delta looks like from the Bay.

A bunch of big wild turkeys hanging out at woods edge.

Checking out one of the many private grass strips on the Eastern Shore.

Flying over a big open field bordered by woods.

Crossing the Bay.  Kind of a cruddy day up higher.
